The student leaves his home and his parents for a year to make another country and the guest family his new home for that specific time. The relationship between the student and the guest family can grow rapidly when the student decides to make the connection to the guest family his priority. On one hand, having his mind too much back home with his family or friends, or even being involved in processes can make it harder for the student to being rooted and for what God has for him. On the other hand, we want to see the relationship between the student and his parents to grow and deepen. They have much less time together but the quality of the talks is deepens because the student shares the deep processes he is going through. We encourage the student to have a weekly talk with his parents on the phone.
The goal of the Master's Commission is to see God working through the generations as He transfers His plan from one generation to the next. Therefore there is a desperate need for natural and spiritual fathers and mothers to inscribe the heart of sonship into the youth. It is only the older generation who can shepherd the young people into the relationship with the Father and lives of vision, purpose and destiny. They are set to call them up to the standard of being a disciple, and to call their gifts, potential and destiny out of them.
The older generation will lead the next generation by their example of true discipleship. They call the young people out into their true identity in the Lord which they never would discern on their own. Natural and spiritual parents recognize the gifts, the potential and the vocation of the younger generation. They speak these truths out in order to encourage the next generation.
Unless the generations are unified, His will cannot be accomplished. We want to see the zeal, risk-taking and power of the younger generation joined with the faith, perseverance and wisdom of the older generation. The Master's Commission in Biel, Switzerland, is an expression of the power of unified generations. This year will strengthen the relationship between the students towards their natural families, their guest families and their church leaders.
A testimony of a mother
"As a mother of three ‘MC Kids’ I would like to share something from my heart. Today, I know that MC was one of the best investments in our kids. One to two years in MC with total devotion to God, to each other and to the church. For me, it meant to totally trust the leaders and the guest families; that God could use other people to help press our kids into Him, to let them go and to expect the best from God.
They learned to serve, to confront, they sharpened each other, had talks for hours and a lot more. Sometimes it was hard especially to let their egos go and let God do the work. In this time, God also used the situation to train me. For example: What does my time with the Lord look like? How do I live out my relationships? Is my relationship to my mentor still alive? Can I repent immediately? Etc.
In these times it was important to support our kids and to not feel sorry for them. I really can say that in this time our relationships became closer. Our family isn’t the same anymore. We have better and more open conversations and we honor and respect one another more. I am glad that this process goes on. In this, it is important that we keep the new won land and win even more land.
I want to encourage all the parents to let their kids do one to two years of MC."
