First and foremost, we are a discipleship school. We want Christ to grow in us. This doesn’t affect only our hearts, because Jesus commissioned us to love God with all of our heart, soul, mind and strength, and to love our neighbor as ourselves. We want to follow Him in every sphere of life, holistically.
We take this very seriously, and we want to help the students on their way with God. The leadership always takes time for individual talks and coaching. We also have a broad network of qualified people for counseling of any kind.
We have over 20 different speakers, some who come regularly every week, and others who come for an in-depth week on a specific topic.
Books: We read great books on specific topics, adapting the level of complexity of the books for every individual student.
We read the whole bible in 10 months. We go through the narrative of scripture, and we learn verses by heart.
MANAGING TIME & MONEY
We work on our planning of money and time. Every student has an intern for support in these areas.
We want to keep in shape and be responsible with the gift of the physical body that we have received.
Worship is an essential part of our lives as humans. Throughout history, our adoration and our trust in someone, or something, has directed every individual and every culture. We see in our lives a need for life itself. A life full of meaning, hope and love. This is why we start and end our days with prayer and worship.
CHARISMATICAL & LITURGICAL
We love contemporary worship songs and fill these songs with life and passion. We also love the ancient ways of worshiping and we draw from these fountains. We pray that both liturgical and charismatic expressions are life-filled and Spirit-led, and so we practice both in our community and in MC.
From time to time, we pray with the oldest prayer book: The Psalms. We lay down our agony, our joys and everything else through these words.
2-3 times a week, we have young worship leaders of our community leading worship. After the first phase the students are invited to lead themselves. They receive a training from a worship leader.
Every other week, we sing short repeating songs using just our voices. All kinds of voices are welcomed and included.
It is key to be an uplifting, encouraging, correcting, reforming community. Like Bonhoeffer said about Christian community: “It is not simply to be taken for granted that the Christian has the privilege of living among other Christians… It is easily forgotten that the fellowship of Christian brethren is a gift of grace, a gift of the Kingdom of God that any day may be taken away from us…”. In building community together, we want to build this Kingdom.
Another central part of student life is the living in host families. We are very thankful for these families from our community who open their doors and hearts, and for creating an atmosphere of home for every student.
ONE GOD, ONE CHURCH
We want to build bridges, not walls. We see our brothers and sisters in Christ as our family, and believe that together we constitute the Church.
SERVICE & MISSION
Every other week, we give a half a day of our time away to support different institutions in the city and the surrounding area. When you receive, you need to give.
The News is good; to good not to share! We want to have a lifestyle of openness and sharing what’s on our hearts. As community, we offer basic courses on faith.
SERVING THE CHURCH
We love what Christ loves. We want to serve the Church with a big “C,” but we also want to serve our local community in prayer and hands-on work.
In Spring and Summer, we do a total of about 7 weeks of outreach in Germany, Italy, Austria, Romania, Poland and often other places.
